Plagiarized story on Amazon

UPDATE: The page for More Than Moonlight is gone, as are all of the other stories “Jay Cute” had stolen and claimed to have edited. Thanks again to everyone who helped us bring this person to Amazon’s attention! ❤

~*~

Hi, guys! First, I wanted to thank everyone who’s contacted me about More Than Moonlight being illegally sold on Amazon. MJ and I are aware of the issue and have reported the violation of our copyright to Amazon. And thanks also to the people who have left one-star reviews to warn other potential readers away. *hugs to you all*

For those who don’t know, this “Jay Cute” took one of my and MJ O’Shea’s free story collections that tie into our Lucky Moon series and put it up for sale on Amazon, after lazily pasting their name over our original cover.

MTMAmazon

This was also done to one of Kaje Harper’s stories and countless other authors outside of our genre. I think “Jay Cute” has claimed to be the editor on something like 20 different titles. The sheer laziness of what this person did with the covers and that they didn’t change a single detail inside the books themselves might be laughable if they weren’t trying to make money off of our work, particularly in the cases where the stories were provided free of cost by the original authors.

All I can do is shake my head and hope that Amazon pulls these books and shuts down “Jay Cute’s” account as soon as possible. Thanks again to everyone who gave me and MJ a heads up!

Hey, all! Just a quick post to announce my release with M.J. O’Shea today. This is the second edition of The Luckiest (Lucky Moon #2), which was originally released by Loose Id. It’s now available as a paperback as well (yay!) and has a fab new cover designed by LC Chase.

The Luckiest - 500x750

Blurb:

Rock star Nick Ventura has finally hit rock bottom. Jealous of his brother’s new love, he overindulges in his usual vices and winds up crashing his car into a department store in a drunken haze. Publicly humiliated and on the verge of jail time, he enters into a court-ordered rehabilitation program.

Nutritionist Luka Novak is flamboyant, effeminate, and the type of gay man bisexual Nick would normally sneer at. But his sunny nature hides a deep hurt caused by an unfaithful ex-boyfriend. As much as Luka knows he should be wary of Nick’s reputation, he’s drawn to Nick despite himself. Their tentative friendship turns into romance, but Luka soon comes to realize Nick’s fear of losing his bad boy reputation means he’ll probably never go public with their relationship.

Nick never needed anyone until Luka came into his life. Now he has to reconcile his carefree past with the future he suddenly wants more than anything. And the first lesson he must learn is how to become the man both he and Luka need him to be, rather than stay the boy he always was. Alone.

~*~

Note: For those of you wondering, there were no major alterations to this edition of The Luckiest, aside from edits and minor scene changes. If you purchased the original version of this book, there’s no reason to buy this one, unless you just want the pretty cover. 😉 The books that are changed the most in their second editions are Moonlight Becomes You (released April, 2014) and Moonstruck (coming spring 2015), which both have new added content and are substantially longer than the originals.

New Cover: The Luckiest (Lucky Moon #2)

Yay! The second edition of The Luckiest (Lucky Moon #2) has a new cover! Check it out. Again, designed by the fabulous LC Chase. 😀

2nd Edition

Lucky Moon: Book One

Eleven years ago, Shane Ventura made the biggest mistake of his life when he caved in to pressure from his record label to kick his best friend, Jesse Seider, out of their band, Luck. To this day, Shane has never wanted anyone more, and all the sex and alcohol in the world can’t fill the void Jesse left behind. Not even the prospect of teaming up with Britain’s hottest band, Moonlight, for a massive world tour can get him out of his funk. Then he meets lead singer Kayden Berlin and falls into instant lust.

Kayden may act like he’s not interested, but Shane knows he feels the spark between them. Yet the harder Shane pushes, the more Kayden pulls away, until one explosive night leaves Shane with a broken heart. That seems to be his lot—lucky at everything but love. Shane still has one lesson left to learn, though: when it comes to love, you can’t always leave things to chance.

Rock stars, angst, sexual tension, smutty fun times. We’ve got you covered. 😉

If you haven’t read this, but you’ve read MJ’s Catch My Breath, the Ventura Brothers were mentioned in that book. First, we have Shane. Later in the year, we’ll have Nick in The Luckiest, who is admittedly a favorite character of both mine and MJ’s.

Come have fun with our boys. ♥ And check out my Moonlight Becomes You playlist, if you’re curious about what music inspired me while writing. 🙂

By the way, I’ve been asked several times about the differences between this book and the original. We added about 16K total to the word count. Some of that includes a few of the vignettes we’d released as separate freebies when the Lucky Moon books started coming out (some of which have been altered somewhat), and some of it includes a few new scenes. There isn’t a ton of new stuff in the book (unless you never read our vignette collections, which are still freely available, in which case the entire 16K will be new to you), but if you’d like to own a copy of the re-edited, fleshed out version, I definitely recommend you picking it up! I think the book is stronger now. But, really, at its heart, it’s still the same story. So definitely don’t feel obliged to re-purchase if you already read the original book. And if you haven’t, well, I hope you enjoy our Lucky Moon boys. We had a lot of fun writing them! And, of course, for those of you who had inquired about a Moonlight Becomes You paperback, it’s finally here! I just got my official author copies today, which made me very happy. 😀

Music Playlist: Moonlight Becomes You

Well, the 2nd edition of Moonlight Becomes You comes out one week from today, so I thought I should put together a playlist for it. Some of these songs are mentioned in the story; some of them were what I listened to while writing my scenes. I’m sure MJ’s playlist would be different if she made one, but for me, these are the songs that remind me of the boys in this story. 🙂

The songs from when Luck first performed in front of a live audience.

Songs I listened to while writing.

Hope you enjoyed the playlist! Moonlight Becomes You comes out from Dreamspinner Press on April 7th. Pre-order it now: ebook / paperback

Giveaway – Moonlight Becomes You ebook & paperback

Happy St. Patrick’s Day, everyone! In three weeks the 2nd edition of Moonlight Becomes You will be released. Given that shamrocks and four-leaf clovers mean something to our MC — his band is called Luck, their emblem is a four-leaf clover, and his last name means “fortune” — I’m thinking today is a great day to kick off a giveaway. 🙂

I’m offering up one copy of the paperback and one copy of the ebook to two lucky winners. First name drawn gets first choice and the remaining prize goes to the second person. (But if you’d prefer to buy, Dreamspinner is having a 25% off sale until 3/23! Check out the links above to order directly from their site.)

To enter the contest, simply comment here on this post, but be sure to leave an email address for me to contact you in the event your name is drawn.

Book Update: Lucky Moon Series

Hi, all! I keep getting questions about the status of Moonlight Becomes You (Lucky Moon #1), so I figured it was time for another update. Here is what I can tell you.

Moonlight Becomes You (second edition) is coming from Dreamspinner Press sometime in April. It will have new cover art and it will also be available as a paperback. The word count went from around 44K to around 60K. Some of this is new content, some of this are scenes from our free vignette collections (More Than Moonlight and Beyond Moonlight), but even some of those scenes have also been altered during our edits. The story has more Shane but now also includes scenes from both Jesse and Kayden’s perspectives. 🙂

Now, as you can probably guess, the re-release of MBY through Dreamspinner does mean that eventually the entire series will be available from them as well. The first edition of The Luckiest (Lucky Moon #2) is still available for purchase right now, but that will change at the end of next month. If you want to read The Luckiest in its current incarnation, it would be best to purchase it soon. Once it’s taken off the market next month, it won’t be available again until September/October of this year. But, as it stands now, I don’t foresee that particular story being dramatically altered. It will be going through edits again and we’ll be getting feedback from our new editors, so there might be some changes, but MJ and I were satisfied with The Luckiest overall and so I don’t think we’d want to make any really big changes. And as for Moonstruck (Lucky Moon #3), that one will be available for purchase until January 2015; however, the second edition of that one will probably go through some major revisions and additions. We anticipate it might end up around 60K like MBY did.

So, that’s the status for now! Any questions, you can email me or ask in the comments here, of course. 🙂 I just saw a draft of the new MBY cover today and it was pretty fab. I’m excited to share that one when I can.

GRNW Meet-Up / Moonlight Becomes You

Hey, y’all! So, I spent this past weekend in Seattle, hanging out with friends and attending the first annual GRNW Meet-Up. I found out while I was there that thanks to the event, two of my books now have a home at the Seattle Public Library, which is more than a little mind blowing. I had a nice dinner with some of the lovely people from Less Than Three Press, and, thanks to dear MJ carting me around the towns near the Mt. Rainier foothills, I was able to do some research for the shifter series I’m currently planning. It was fun. 🙂 If I can attend the meet-up next year, I’ll definitely do so.

In other news, I’m happy to announce that Moonlight Becomes You officially has a new home! The second edition of the book will be coming out from Dreamspinner Press in the spring. Barring any unforeseen complications, it should hopefully be out in April. Just FYI, for any who have been waiting for it, this second edition will have more than 16,000 words added and it’ll be released as a paperback with new cover art. Woot! Some of the added scenes come from our free vignette collections, More Than Moonlight and Beyond Moonlight, which some readers have read already, but the other material is brand new and never before seen. (And for anyone wondering, The Luckiest and Moonstruck will eventually be rereleased as paperbacks, too, and Moonstruck will have a good 12K or so added.)

That’s all for now! Kade Boehme and I finished our WIP, Wood, Screws, & Nails, and turned that in to the publisher. Next we’ll be starting on One More Thing (One Thing #3), which should be coming from Dreamspinner in the spring also, likely in March if everything goes well. We’ll keep you posted!
